The Ellerslie Curling Club has two areas available as a venue to host your function. It is suitable for weddings, anniversaries, adult birthday parties, company parties, and other special events. Our facility is located in a well treed, park-like setting with a large parking lot. Upstairs Lounge:
This very modern and attractive area has seating for up to 125 guests and has a 400 sq. ft. dance floor. (our capacity is 225). Cushioned chairs compliment the large round and rectangular tables, each comfortably seating 8 people. An attractive bar and viewing area (looking onto the ice-area) adds to the ambience of the lounge. A handicap elevator provides easy access for those unable to use the stairs. This is a great facility for any event requiring seating for 50-125 people. More banquet tables can be added. Catering is also available upon request.
Ice Area:
In the off season (May-August) this very large 12,672 sq. ft. area provides space for seating up to 550 people. A spacious lobby adds to the functionality of this area. This is a great facility for large weddings, company parties, and for many other events.
During the curling season (Sep- April) six sheets of ice are used for junior, senior, ladies, men's and mixed league curling. As well, ice is available for daytime and weekend usage when not in use.
Our ice is available for groups of any size. From bonspiels, school field trips, birthday parties, to corporate events, we can craft an event that suits your needs and size! Call 780-988-5784 for more information.
CURLING INFORMATION - BEFORE YOU ARRIVE
ATTIRE: Footwear: If you don’t have curling shoes, use a clean pair of flat running shoes. The club has grippers available for you to use but quantities are limited.
CLOTHING: Wear loose fitting clothing.
TEMPERATURE: There are heaters in the rink so you won’t get very cold. Dress in layers. Gloves or mitts are a good idea. You can always shed.
EQUIPMENT: Brushes; The club has a supply of brooms for your use.
Sliding devices are also available to help you deliver the rocks.
SCHEDULE: Arrival; You should arrive at least 20 minutes early but you may want to arrive earlier depending on the size of your group. It will take a few minutes to ensure each person is ready to get on the ice.
INSTRUCTORS: If you are new to the sport and would like to have one or more instructors work with you or your group please be sure to mention it
BAR: Prior to, during and after your on ice experience, a full-service, professionally operated lounge is available. The bar stocks a
wide variety of beverages. No drinks are allowed on the ice.
WHEN YOU ARRIVE
PREP: Make sure all participants have at least one gripper on their non-sliding foot and tape or a removable slider has been made available to them to throw. The quicker you get setup the more ice time you have.
ICE TIME: For each gameyou will have a maximin 2 hours ice time from the start of your booking so get out to the ice as fast as you can.
